SoHo parking garage
The flip side to construction is destruction. A few months ago they razed the parking garage that was at the end of my block. Fortunately someone had the good sense to save the sign. Unfortunately, the beautiful type that ran along the side of the brick building is gone. I took this photo shortly before demolition was to begin.
I had hoped they would save it by designating it a landmark. If they fixed the building it could have made a beautiful art gallery. But alas, it was not to be. And the garage was too structurally unsound to continue as it was. I shudder to think what might end up on that now empty lot.
